Twisted for Jigsaw in Association with LIDL Ireland
Last Saturday, Ballyhass Lakes joined forces with Lidl Ireland in hosting the annual “Twisted For Jigsaw” event. This is a staff-organized fundraiser for Jigsaw, which is a team of supporters, professionals, volunteers, campaigners and people who are passionate about supporting young people with their mental health. The day consisted of on-site activities, as well as the brand new “Jigsaw Fun Run”.
The day kicked off with a big breakfast, kindly provided by Lidl. Our own Ballyhass staff ran sessions of team games and Claudia from “Yoga with Claudia” was getting the participants loose for their jam-packed day of activity. Personal trainer and sports consultant Finn Glenn lead the way for the group warm-up. The creator of the “Body By Finn - Ireland's Personal Trainer” programme got the whole crowd involved with energetic exercises and everyone was set-up for the day ahead.
Our instructors then began to run the on-site activities, which ranged from the high ropes course and archery to kayaking and the inflatable Aquapark. Everyone had an amazing time, with challenges being taken on and fears overcome. Cliffs were climbed, axes were thrown and splashes were made.
A brief interlude was held between the activities and the race itself, with fresh fruits and yoghurts being given out by Lidl to refresh the crowd before the big event.
Leading the charge, Finn and the first wave commenced the Fun Run, which included challenging obstacles, such as balance beams, climbing nets and tyre rolls. The ideal weather conditions ensured that everyone had a smile on their face as they crossed the finish line to receive their medals. The smiles were even bigger at the sight of the amazing BBQ being cooked in the Lidl tent for everyone on the day.
An awards ceremony was held after dinner, with accolades being given to those who stood out to the instructors during the activities and raffle prizes being given out.
To conclude, the whole event was a great success. Over €15,000 was made on the day for Jigsaw and it established a huge occasion to look forward to in the coming years.
