Irelands Fastest Growing Watersport

Cable Wake Boarding

What is it

Wakeboarding is the latest action water sport to take over the world. Born through a lack of waves and a desire to further surfing, wakeboarding has grown from it's routes in California to cover every continent around the world, from Cuba to Russia and everywhere in between. This high speed action sport is traditionally (and predominantly) performed using a purpose built speed boat. The rider is towed behind at around 25mph which enables them to use the boat's wake to perform various air tricks.

More recently we are seeing a new form of transport in the form of cable wake boarding, which is rapidly gaining popularity because the innovative cable system allows wakeboard riders of all ages and experience levels to wakeboard without requiring a boat. It's less expensive compared to all the costs involved with boat wake boarding and a lot less hassle. Cable ways are clean, efficient, quiet and overall, very environmentally friendly. But best of all, you can ride many more sets in a day than you ever could behind the boat.

It is a very easy sport to learn and has an amazing and quick progression ladder for development and improvement.

Ballyhass Wakepark

The Wakepark based at the beautiful Ballyhass lakes 10mins outside Mallow is one of the most unique parks in Ireland and Munster's most unique tourist attraction. An old limestone quarry flooded by natural springs guarantees beautiful crystal clear water all year round and the high 15m cliffs means flat water no matter what the weather. A Wakeboarders dream location. There is an accompanying activity centre on site that has been running successfully for 10 years and you can have activities combined into a package including wakeboarding. In addition to the activity centre there are 11 self catering houses available for rent right on the lake shore. Basically all the ingredients for the ultimate adventure weekend. So whether you are new to wakeboarding and want to try it out or fancy riding for an hour hitting the kickers and sliders or have a bunch of buddies looking for an adventure weekend, Ballyhass Wakepark has something for everyone.

What system

Ballyhass Wake Park uses 2 x Sesitec System 2.0, a portable, straight-line cable wake boarding system powered by an electric drive motor. This system was designed specifically for wake sports and provides a continuous ride, like a figure of eight - meaning that you won’t have to drop the handle or stop after one tow down the cable course. Supported by two overhead cables, the System 2.0 gives riders a more consistent smooth pull while retaining maximum cable tension. For the advanced rider, better tension allows for more air tricks - but the turnaround is beginner level, so anyone can easily ride the system whether they want to perform air tricks or not. We have two lines at Ballyhass, the east and west lines both of which have different standards of obstacles and will appeal to all levels of wakeboarders. Take advantage of our 10m cliffs to practice your raleys or our beautiful calm waters to stand up on the board for the first time!! We take your safety very seriously and use winter wetsuits, buoyancy vests and helmets to make sure you're nice and safe throughout your time on the cable.

Our systems were installed by our friends at Industry Wakeparks who have installed over 25 parks in the UK in the last 5 years along with some awesome world class events.
